Washi tape walls have been around for a long time –– but most recently, we’ve used them in our entryway-less apartment to add some interest to a very bleak and boring wall! (Watch the transformation here!)

Why washi tape?
More like, why not washi tape?? It’s
- renter friendly
- gentle on walls (won’t remove paint, but still a flexible and soft enough tape to stick well!)
- the tool for countless creative patterns, shapes, and colors
- so affordable
Also, in a space like ours, where our front door leads straight into the dining room with no entryway, the washi tape wall helps add the illusion of separation, bringing more character, depth, and height to the space.
How to get the look.
I started by Googling images of washi tape walls to find the right inspo and pattern I wanted. I settled on something simple that still brought obvious style to the wall. My recommendation would be to keep it simple and to welcome imperfections. It was liberating to work in no real, concise pattern at all.
If you’re looking for something renter friendly and simple, this washi tape wall may be right up your alley! Explore Pinterest for more patterns to choose from, or create your own with colors, textures, and lines you’re inspired by.
